Added audio, video, and flash files to a web page including both legacy and HTML5 techniques and combinations of both.

Week 12

Week of 3 Apr 17

Finished working with PHP. Wrote a more complex PHP script to calculate and print an invoice.

Introduced Java. Wrote a simple Hello, World Java program with Dr Java.

Installed Java from java.com, then wrote and implemented several simple Java Applets.

Discussed implementing Java programs from the internet.

Week 11

Week of 27 Mar 17

Continued working with Javascripts. Practiced loading and writing simple javascripts.

Also used Javascript to check form input.

Started PHP. Wrote a simple Hello, World PHP script. Also wrote a form handler, and introduced PHP variables.

Week 10

Week of 20 Mar 17

Continued working with Javascripts. Reviewed automatic and triggered scripts, calling external scripts, instrinsic events, button-executed scripts, alternate script information, and setting the default scripting language.

Introduced rollovers

Worked through several simple XML examples.

Practiced resizing photos, cropping photos, and saving images for the web. Also practiced using a photo scanner.

Discussed absolute and relative addressing.

Discussed the anchor tag and used it to create different types of links including site navigation links.

Introduced more HTML formatting tags.

Discussed the image tag and created a page with both images and text.

Practiced editing images with Adobe Photoshop.

Week 1

Week of 11 Jan 17 (Wed and Fri)

Introduced the course outline, syllabus, and CIT computer lab.

Discussed the web (internet), browsers, web servers, standards, and current web technologies.

Introduced markup language, syntax, file names, URLs and HTML. Created an index file home page and a template file on the CIT public web server and accessed it through the internet.

Created a home page on the CIT secure web server and started a sample page. Covered headers, spacing, comments, special characters, paragraphs, blocks, and introduced various HTML formatting tags.
