What is Computer Information Technology?

Associate of Arts / 4-Year Transfer Program

Computer Information Technology covers a wide variety of specialties used in the modern computer environment. Jobs often require both technical and administrative skills in such areas as computer networking, web site design, systems development, techical support, sales and service, programming, database administration, education and training.

Since Computer Information Technology is closely related to the business world, Hesston College CIT students take business courses as well. Graduates starting out as technicians will find the business courses especially useful if they start their own business or are promoted to management.

Hesston College provides a common core of knowledge used in all of these fields. Some graduates enter the work force at graduation. Other students are well-prepared to continue on to further education in related fields such as Computer Information Systems, Information Science, Information Technology, and Management Information Systems.
